I have no idea why the days go by so fast. Suppose it has something to do with age? I am beginning to think that. The last two weeks truly are kind of a blur for me. Every day of the week with the exception of one Friday (which both dogs went to the groomer) has been filled with doctors appointments. My husband gets credit for two trips to Roseville and no he did not get the green light to walk yet. That will come on the 28th! But his feet look so good. I haven't seen them look this good in a very long time so I am truly happy about this progress. I get credit for two appointments in Roseville both this last week. I discovered a lump on the back of my leg and thougth since it was hurting that I should get it looked at. (For those of you that read this and do not know where Roseville is, it is next to Sacramento and it is a 2 hour drive one way) I hadn't had time prior to get it checked out as the days were already filled with appointments. My Father had one appointment and the rest were for my Mother. Thankfully things are beginning to slow down to a more normal pace. I was feeling a little stretched for awhile. My brothers wife (Marcia) fortunately was able to take my Mom to her CT Scan which by the way turned out fine and to her hearing aid appointment. The lovely lady that cleans my parents house and our house once a week (Tamera) was able to take my Dad to his appointment so we managed to get them all covered. The lump on my leg is going to have to be removed so I went to meet the surgeon on Friday. My leg has been hurting for a long time so I think I am looking forward to getting this thing which is about the size of a golf ball removed. Well, not actually looking forward to the surgery, but looking forward to being able to drive without it hurting. I think this will all happen in May because they have to give me at least five days notice so that I can discontinue taking Warfarin and then start giving myself shots of Lovenex. My Dad has one appointment on Tuesday and my Mom has a colonoscopy on Thursday and hopefully things will really slow down after that. Enough already don't you think???
On to knitting news. I have had little time to knit, but it is so interesting how much it relaxes me when I am stressed out. I have been working on a lace pattern for a very long time. Mainly because I get to take it out so much. I am developing a great deal of patience and frogging experience. I have completed two of the patterns the first being Cat Paws and the second being Trees of Life. Now I am working on the third pattern which is Ferns and the one after that which I am really looking forward to is a Butterfly. Then there is a filler pattern and I get to do them all over again. I started this in Alpace Fino, but found that my eyesight was just too bad to handle this tiny tiny yarn so I have switched to a silk yarn that is a little bigger and therefore the entire scarf will be bigger but I think only by about 7 inches total, so I am going to do all of the patterns. Then, once I finish this I think that I will tackle the Alpaca Fino again but perhaps a different pattern as I will be tired of this one. When I first started my eyes felt like I was crosseyed trying to read the charts, but now they are relatively easy to follow. There may come a time when I will be telling you that the charts are easier that the written instructions, but for the time being, I still prefer the written directions. I am also working on a sweater for myself. I am making it out of Feza yarn from Turkey. The yarn is Laser and has a very nice feel to it. I started this when I was in Costa Rica, but didn't get to far as it seems I was knitting in slow motion there. It was really interesting because generally the yarn dries my hands out and I have to put lotion on frequently. While in Costa Rica I had to stop frequently and take an ice cube between my hands to kind of wash them off and dry them and then start knitting again. The humidity there made my hands sweat I guess. That's a new one for me. I have been working on small projects like socks and getting a couple of girlfriends started on socks. My secret pal #7 sent me this wonderful yarn that I took all of the way to CR and back and have yet to start the socks, but they will be the next pair that I make for myself. I have a couple of things that I have to move to the front of the line because Patricia (Lucy's sister) is coming to visit her host family and I didn't get a chance to make something for her and I need to do that so she can take it back with her. I will not mail things anymore because the customs agents steal everything. So, I have to get a shall made for Patricia which I am making out of Blue Heron Yarn the Rayon/Metallic in color deep space. It is going to be beautiful. There are 550 yards and I believe the shall will take all of it. I will double it and use a fairly simple pattern. Hopefully pictures will follow.
Did I tell all of you that Lucy came back with me and will be here hopefully until December when Jen will fly back with her? So, we are having fun knitting together. I will try for another update in a few days.
