First things first. Thank you very much to my lovely secret pal. It is really funny because she sent me a magazine and a book and both of them I had purchased the very same day at a Barnes and Noble store. So, my pal that I am spoiling will get the two that I bought and I of course will keep the ones that my pal sent to me. One was the One Skein Book, and and Interweve Knits magazine. She has a great mind I am thinking. She also sent me a bumblebee tape measure which is so cute and some butterfly notepaper and a cute card. Thank you again SP8. You are doing a nice job of spoiling me.
Yes, I know it has been awhile and you were all wondering if I fell off the face of the earth. Well, I didn't fall off, but I did get pretty close to the edge if you consider going to the beach getting close to the edge. My lovely hostess "Jenn" has decided to wake all of us up that were blog sleeping with a game so I decided that I wanted to play and here goes.
1. What is your favorite season of the year and why? This is a tough question because I love all seasons even the extremely hot weather, but I would have to say that although winter was never a favorite for me, it is my favorite season now. I so enjoy watching it snow outside and I absolutely love the feeling of the wood burning stove. It is such a cozy feeling and it is the very best weather to curl up in your favorite spot and knit.
2. Summer is hot. What do you knit in the summer? Well, the heat does not stop me from knitting. Perhaps I knit less in the summer but this summer I have made a short sleeve sweater that is something I can wear during the summer, I have made several shalls as they are a light weight project and can be worn in the evenings. I have made socks since I wear tennis shoes during the summer along with those favorite flip flops. So, I will use the socks in the summer and they are not hot to work on like a blanket might be. I have made some chemo hats as well. I am getting ready to start another sleevless sweater for my daughter. Currently I am working on a shall for my other daughter.
3. If money was no object.....what would you buy at the LYS? I have a tremendous love for knitting so I have not imposed limits on myself when it comes to yarn. If I really like the yarn and know that I will use it, I will buy it. I would rather put my limits on other things where my love is not as strong.
4. What are some activities that have become family traditions for your family? Every summer we take a walk to Table Mountain and spend the night camped out under the stars. We always have lovely Thanksgiving get togethers and Christmas gatherings. Summer BBQ's are always a big thing. The Garlic Festival every year in Gilroy, Ca.
5. What is the weather right now? At this very moment the sun is shining, there is a little breeze, it is slightly overcast and the temperature is around 102 degrees.
Ok, that has been completed and I need to let you know what has been going on in my life. I have been knitting on a shall and a sleeveless sweater as I continue to clean out a storage facility. We are making trememdous progress. Picture a storage area the size of a one car garage. It was packed to the brim and now it is about 1/3 full. Lucy and I are on a roll and our goal is to get it emptied by the end of July so that I won't have to pay another month to store things. I have given so much away and it feels so good. Lucy and I just got back from a week trip to Santa Barbara where we spent a wonderful few days with my daughter Heather. She took us all around Santa Barbara and it was beautiful. We went to a concert and heard Linda Ronstat. I was trying to figure out how old she was and so she told us that she was going to be turning 60 the following day. Of course everyone sang Happy Birthday to her and her crew had a cake that they brought out. Kinda cool. And Heather, well she is on the security staff as one of her five jobs and she was there to inspect us when we went through the gate. The thing she said to me was "I didn't see that" because my camera was up close to the top of my purse. Her boss asked if she knew us after we had hugged her and she said that it was her mom and sister. He was totally surprised that she inspected us but she told him it was her job. She does this job mainly for fun during the summer season. We came back up highway 1 and the coast was breathtaking. We even went through a town called "Lucia" so we stopped to take pictures of Lucy's little community. We were going to spend the night in Santa Cruz, but didn't feel totally safe in the places that had vacancies so we ended up in Los Gatos. Oh, we fell in love with this town. Lovely shopping areas downtown and well some pretty nice stores. It could be dangerous if you were feeling low on will power.
